Lip Syncing Practice

The Script - The Man Who Cant Be Moved

Above is the music video to our chosen song that we have decided on using for our lip sync practice. We will only be doing the first one minute of this song so up to that point it is fairly slow. The slow tempo of the song helps us massively for two reasons. The first reason is the lip syncing, the lip syncing will be a lot slower therefore the actor that we have chosen to use will easily be able to follow along with it. Secondly the editing, because the song and lyrics are fairly slow it was easy to then match up the different footage to the movement of the mouth. This will help us with our final production as the editing stage is very hard and time consuming. If we have practiced before editing our final piece, that stage of the tasks time period should be reduced as we will know a bit more about the software and how it works.

Here is our practice lip syncing, as you can see the shot styles are very standard and simple. We didn't have much organisation for this piece and we just took a camera and started to film. By doing this it has given us a negative impact onto the editing stage. For this whole one minute piece of work we had around about one and a half minutes of footage to work with. As you can imagine this was fairly hard to then work with in the editing stage. There are some areas where I believe could have been better and well timed with the music, however I couldn't change anything about this as I didn't have enough footage to work with. So from this, as a group we have decided that we will need to film each scene three times and then the whole song in different locations, rather than doing small sections in different areas.

Why this has helped us
From doing this piece of work we were able to get an idea of how hard the work really was to create and make it look professional, with the lyrics matching up with the visuals. We have learnt that we will need to film the whole song in a wide variety of shots filmed at least 3 times. This then means that we would have a lot of footage to then play with in the editing stage. This has helped us as we would not have known that unless we did this which would then leave us in a bad situation when filming our final piece.
