Ideas For Magazine Advertisement

For our project, we have each compiled ideas for a magazine advert draft for our album. This has linked to our individual designs, and we have each developed a rough design for what we had in mind.

For our project we have been asked to make an magazine advertisement for our specific artist. To overcome the decision of deciding on a design we all made our own rough design and at the end we would decide on our favourite and develop it further with all opinions and ideas put forward.

George Harvey

George's Idea

Above is my first idea for my magazine advertisement, this style is in the same style of the digipak we have chosen to use with the same image of the hand and the blue sky. To keep the same style but change the image a bit I have added a smudge grass effect on the sky photo to look like this. I have kept the sky image because form what I have analysed the best advertisements for albums are the ones that relate the most to the content of the album. So the name of the song is called "goodbye my lover and the meaning behind this is that some one has dies. So I have added in the two hands holding on having a reference to heaven and not wanting to let go. Instead of having a the normal skin colour on the hands I have taken that off and added an overlay of an image of the sky. This again gives a heavenly reference. Like the generic music advertisements I have added the production companies, a website for the artist and a twitter icon. the font that I used was called Xpress Heavy S. I used this text style as I thought it looks soft and that would then tie in with the happy, light feeling of the song. This certain text style that I have chosen is a lot bolder than other text styles which means that it is a good idea to then use it for my main headings. Having a bolder text will ensure that the audience will read that first as it will stand out more.

Josh's Idea
Here is my idea for magazine advertisement. I have decided to keep a very basic theme to my advertisement as the song in question deals with very emotional and natural themes. As well as this, the advertisement does give basic information, for example the artist name, name of the song, release date and production information. However, it also leaves a lot of room for creation of a star - meaning there is lots of room to market the artist's face - which I have done by using an image from our music video (part of Goodwin's theory)

Lewis' Idea

Alastair's Idea
Here is a magazine advertisement I have made to promote James Blunts song 'Goodbye My Lover'. I've decided to keep a very dark mysterious design to the advert because I feel this specific song is quite depressing filled with emotion. The dark silhouette connotes this mystery, the title of the song 'Goodbye my lover' makes the audience wonder who the 'lover' is and this is where I feel the mystery comes from. The advert i feel should be promoting James Blunts name the most therefore I have put his name in a large font right at the top of the advert so its unnoticeable. I've decided to put our logo in the bottom left of the advert this acts as promotion to our personal record label, it will trigger interest within our target audience.
